Top 5 ( err six) records of 2011

This is primarily what I spent 2011 listening to on repeat. There were others, but these were ones that stayed in heavy rotation.

Make Do and mend- End Measured Mile

I came across  this band via another band on this list because they share a member. This band has been slowly building and I am really eager to see what 2012 holds for them. One of the best sets at Fest 11 ( even though it was in a completely unlit theater)

Defeater- Empty Days and Sleepless Nights
A concept album from a hardcore band? WHA? Yes. And its awesome.
look at the crowd!!!

The Head and The Heart- ST

I was a little late on this band- but never the less.

I'm not all agro music all the time..

Russian Circles- Empros.
I mean seriously. Just incredible.

Letlive- Fake History.
Yes, I am relisting this- as Epitaph just  re-released it. Suck it!

I mentioned them last year- and since then- NME has named frontman Jason Butler " The most exciting front man in rock n roll"  Yeah, No shit. THE most intense live show I have seen in YEARS.

Honorable mention- Jay Z/ Kanye West for Watch The Throne.
This album is so good, it made me forget they have the nerve to charge 160.00 PER TICKET.

After working for a eclectic groups of labels and publishers, I had been exposed to so many varying styles of music. Punk, ( my first love) Metal, Hardcore, Indie, Top 40 "Active Rock" , commercial Hip Hop, and even Top 40 Country! When I am working, my associated artists are my top priority, and my own interests gets shoved under the rug for the duration of the projects. As I am now making steps to distace myself from the "business of music" - I find myself enjoying music more. Don't get me wrong, I have never stopped enjoying music, but the "business" in the current state its in, has removed me from the joy I had once wrapped myself in.I believe music is an art, that needs to be developed and nurtured. Not rapidly assembled and slapped against the wall to see "what sticks"

On that note, I present to you a record that has really grown on me. This band too, has seen the dark side of the ever evasive major labels. They went for it, they gave it a shot.

You miss a 100% Of the shots you don't take

Welcome!

I figured a needed an outlet to cover what I find interesting music and culture. From new artists that I am following at the moment, to long rants on the state of the music industry. I've been involved for eight years, and have seen some real cool things, and things that make me question why I wanted to do this in the first place.

I hope you enjoy!
